CD Tipp

Today Steve Westaway and his new album „ The Mirror and the bridge “.

Steve Westaway comes originally from Bristol in the United Kingdom but has lived for many years in Worpswede and gives concerts in the Northwest of Germany on a regular basis.  His songs seem unassuming but sound intensive on CD and are persuasive and really work. Simple music without big effects or extreme guitar licks are to be found on this CD. Acoustic folk Blues pure, from the northwest with British roots.

Track 1: 0.00 – 0:50 (Intro 0:22)

Steve Westaway’s new album contains reminiscences of  John Mayall, a pinch of Eric Clapton, a little Tim Hardin or Paul Brady. Even though Steve Westaway prefers the pure acoustic guitar sound and playing club concerts, on this album he is supported by various musicians. e.g. Peter Apel in the Electric guitar, and a few fine string players and also a touch of percussion.

Then the music really gets going: "Train running through my Life ."

Track 3:  0:00 – 0.55 (Intro 0:15)

Steve Westaways new album offers a journey into folk and blues and also creates great atmospheres. The CD is dominated by ballads and gentle songs with the necessary sentiment which the British know how to create. The best proof: "Dreams can't fly".

Track 8: Dreams ...   complete 2:30 (without Intro)

Steve Westaway’s new album is called „The Mirror and the Bridge“ and is released on the  Dandyland label – and was the CD-Tipp in the programme  “Musikzeit in NWR.”

The German text is roughly translated as follows

""Its 16:35 on a friday afternoon and I am stuck in a traffic jam on the way home. The radio is playing warm and quiet guitar music. I am tired from a long weary week and i lean my head back and shut my eyes. The quiet music lets the evening waves on the beach lap over my soul. The sun throws its last friendly evening rays over my and i think back to my childhood .Many experiences and feelings run though me. my pulse quickens and there she is again my first love and the shelter i found between the huge rocks. From far out to sea comes on a soft wind, a misty intimate voice. And then theres the sound of the car horn and I am rudely woken up.
